Anatel director Cerasoli's term ends

Luiz Cerasoli, one of five directors at Brazil's telecoms regulator Anatel stepped down this week at the end of his four-year term, and has been replaced by a temporary appointment, Anatel said in a statement. Marcos Bafutto, Anatel's public services superintendent, steps into Cerasoli's shoes for a 60-day period; if the government does not decide on a permanent replacement within that time frame he will be substituted by another Anatel superintendent for another 60 days. The most likely candidate for the Cerasoli's spot is the current director of the federal government's data processing unit Serpro, Wagner Quirice. Other possible candidates include communications undersecretary Pedro Ziller; former director of Brazilian telco Sercomtel Francisco Pereira; and a director of the Telebras workers' pension fund Sistel, Brigido Ramos.
