Argentina greenlights over US$80mn for public works

As debate on Argentina’s 2025 budget bill has stalled, the executive is authorizing expenditures via emergency decrees (DNU), including 85bn pesos (US$83.2mn) over the next three years for 10 public works projects. 

“It is necessary and urgent to incorporate a number of additional provisions to the carry-over and to amend the existing budget,” the DNU authorizing the funds said. 

Funds were greenlit for the following projects:

– warehouse for forest emergencies (Tierra del Fuego province, 1.4bn pesos);
– firefighting facility for Los Glaciares national park (Santa Cruz, 2.24bn pesos);
– north pier for Lago Puelo national park (Chubut, 4.72bn pesos);
– new guard headquarters for Copo national park (Santiago del Estero, 1.88bn pesos);
– new guard headquarters for Traslasierra national park (Córdoba, 1.49bn pesos);
– potable water system for municipalities of Tapia, San Miguel, Tafi Viejo and Villa Carmela (Tucumán, 25.9bn pesos);
– routine maintenance on national route No. 11, Rosario-Santa Fe stretch (Santa Fe, 17.5bn pesos);
– national route No. 33 improvement, Sancti Spiritu-national route No. 8-Rosario avenue stretch (Santa Fe, 23.6bn pesos);
– national route No. 178, national route No. 33-Las Rosas stretch (Santa Fe, 4.59bn pesos);
– relocation of biological production institute, stage 1 (Buenos Aires city, 1.64bn pesos).
