Argentina power tender watch
Development bank IDB greenlit a US$200mn loan for transmission works in Argentina.
Associated tendering processes are due to get underway this month.
The resources – previously announced – will be used to finance projects that fall under federal power transport program PFTEE, according to an IDB document.
Key objectives are modernizing and expanding the grid to reduce fossil fuel-fired generation, supporting the addition of renewables capacity and boosting reliability.
Argentine transmission trust fund FFEF will take a lead role. Tendering processes are due to get underway this month.
IDB outlined four general lots, the biggest involving US$190mn for projects including expansion work on lines of up to 220kV, and expansion and construction of transformer stations. The work targets 3-8 provincial localities, according to the document.
The second biggest, for US$7.6mn, involves consultancy work corresponding to between three and eight projects. The winning bidder will be required to review detailed engineering plans and carry out inspection work.
The third biggest, for US$450,000, involves conducting studies to ensure that projects comply with IDB’s social and environmental policy framework.
The fourth, for US$180,000, is for a consultancy to prepare and implement a plan to prevent gender-based violence at construction sites and conduct inclusion training among contractors.
