Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires city government plans to invest 76bn pesos (US$72.1mn) this year to strengthen the infrastructure and equipment of local hospitals and health centers.

The administration of mayor Jorge Macri spent 59bn pesos in the sector last year, the city government said in a release.

Of this year’s total, 15bn pesos will be used for new medical equipment, while infrastructure works include expansions to existing healthcare centers and new smaller attention centers.

Córdoba

Three firms presented bids for a 22.9bn-peso contract to pave an 18km stretch of provincial route 29 between the Guaspa and Yuspe rivers in Córdoba province.

The bidders were AFEMA, José J. Chediack and Pablo Federico e Hijos, the provincial government said in a statement.

Two other sections of the route are also being paved. The first, entailing 9.34km between the town of Tanti and the Cerro Blanco nature reserve, is 45% complete. The second, covering 13.2km between the towns of Tala Cañada and Taringa, is 83% complete.

Salta

Salta province governor Gustavo Sáenz is seeking multilateral financing to build a section of the Bioceanic highway.

The operation has the endorsement of the federal government, Sáenz was quoted as saying in a press release issued by the provincial government.

He added that the project would allow road connections with Chile and Paraguay.

Paraguay has already finished one of three sections of the highway within its borders, while the other two are underway.
