Argentine cellphone manufacturer Mirgor signs contract with Tigo

Argentine manufacturer Mirgor signed a two-year contract with telco Millicom, which operates as Tigo, to supply cellphones.

Mirgo, which manufactures in Río Grande in far south Tierra del Fuego province, told the Buenos Aires stock market that the contract is for the planning and supply of cell phones "under the Fourth Party Logistics (4PL) modality by Mirgor USA, centralizing the operations in Miami, to later reach the local operations in Latin America.”

The purpose of the modality is to provide logistics consulting, planning, management, localization, integration of new technologies, and supervision of the operation of the entire supply chain, the company said. The value of the contract or other details were not provided.

Asked by BNamericas about the details of the deal, Mirgor said that at the moment they are not commenting. Millicom was not immediately available to comment on the contract either.

The contract is for the supply of consumer electronics to Millicom's operations in Colombia, Paraguay, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador and Panama, as well as other countries in the region, according to the disclosure.
