Press Release from the Argentine Embassy in Chile and the Chilean-Argentine Chamber
Next Thursday, August 29, as part of the Mining Month in Chile, the “Chilean-Argentine Mining Meeting” will take place, organized by the Embassy and the Chamber.
The event, which already has a tradition of 6 previous editions, is an opportunity for all the institutions and sectors involved in mining in the binational context to meet.
It will bring together the highest mining authorities of both countries, and provincial authorities, with institutions such as the Argentine Chamber of Mining Companies (CAEM), the National Mining Society ( SONAMI ), the main mining projects in the border areas of Argentina and Chile, as well as prominent businessmen and specialists in the sector.
In the context of the energy transition, which requires critical minerals for decarbonisation, clean energy and the fight against climate change, the perspectives of the Governments of Argentina and Chile, the Mining Chambers, Sonami and CAEM; of suppliers - Aprimin and AIC from Chile and Capmin from Argentina - will be heard; and a presentation on the Mining Integration and Complementation Treaty.
The characteristics, investments and current status of the main mining projects under development in the border region between Argentina and Chile will be revealed through a panel that will include the participation of the top executives of Barrick Gold and the Josemaría , Filo del Sol and Los Azules projects.
All of this will be framed within the strategic importance of the Treaty on Mining Integration and Complementation between Argentina and Chile, as well as the joint development of opportunities in terms of goods and services associated with mining and its potential suppliers.
Likewise, the main elements of the new regulation of the Argentine Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) and its concrete impact on mining investments will be reviewed.
In a context in which mining is becoming more than relevant and challenging, the Panels that make up the meeting will refer to the latest developments in the main binational mining projects, as well as the main factors that make mining sustainable, such as energy, logistics, water and technology.
