Ascenty partners with Chilean interconnectivity firm IxMetro-Powerhost

Ascenty, Digital Realty’s Latin America datacenter JV with Brookfield, signed a partnership with Chilean neutral host and datacenter firm IxMetro-Powerhost to expand its business in Chile.
“With this collaboration, we open new opportunities for Chilean and international companies that are looking for the best alternative to reach Chile, as well as to interconnect with metropolitan routes,” Ascenty said in a social media publication.
Powerhost reports having a tier 3-certified datacenter infrastructure of over 1,100m2, consisting of four halls with capacity to host more than 2,000 servers with redundant connectivity.
The portfolio includes more than 1,800 client servers and it has its own IXP, or internet exchange point, called AmericaIX.
AmericaIX is Chile’s first interconnected traffic exchange point to main international IXPs, linking the country with North America, Europe and Asia, according to Powerhost.
Overall, the company is connected to 20 global IXPs.
Powerhost is also connected to Chile's national IXP (PIT Chile) that allows for direct connectivity with the traffic of other PIT members such as Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Movistar, among others.
In addition to Santiago, Powerhost is present in New York, São Paulo, Amsterdam and Moscow.
As per its network, the company reports six redundant physical links with total data traffic capacity of 4Gbps nationally and 440Mbps internationally.
Ascenty has 34 datacenter projects, with 24 in operation and 10 under construction. Of those in operation, 20 are in Brazil, two in Chile and two in Mexico.
