São Paulo, May 2023 - Artificial intelligence in foreign trade (Comex) is already a reality. Asia Shipping, the largest digital logistics integrator in Latin America, is automating its air and sea import operations with the help of AI. Currently, around 90% of the foreign trade department's functionalities can be automated using the Dati platform, a Santa Catarina startup partially acquired by Asia Shipping.
Using AI and Machine Learning, the platform can manage and communicate autonomously with the entire import and export ecosystem, acting proactively and preventively based on data analysis. Incorporated into Asia Shipping's processes, the solution is capable of generating automatic follow-ups, compiling responses, generating checklists for issuing invoices and BLs, issuing import declarations and setting up KPIs for all operations, identifying possible bottlenecks.
By implementing the platform, Asia Shipping saves around 80 hours per month. “In foreign trade, we deal with a massive volume of information that needs to be processed and analyzed quickly. Repetitive and time-consuming tasks, such as filling out documents and checking records, can be carried out quickly, freeing employees to focus on more strategic activities”, comments Rafael Dantas, Sales Director at Asia Shipping.
The platform also makes a difference in compliance and regulation. With all the information compiled by AI, the platform is capable of calculating all taxes and other costs of any operation. Furthermore, the platform is already prepared for the gradual transition to the Single Import Declaration (DUIMP), which will be implemented soon.
According to the executive, the technology stands out for its ability to integrate different supplier platforms, such as Forwarding or shipowners, through APIs. With Dati, it is possible to centralize scheduling, cargo tracking and communication, simplifying the process for customers from the beginning to the end of boarding. “This eliminates the need to understand different 'trackings' or 'follow ups', as all information is automated on a single platform. This approach improves logistics management, from boarding to final delivery, in a more effective and transparent way”, adds Dantas.
