Association pushes bank employees to strike

Bnamericas
Brazilian bank employee's support organization, Executiva Nacional dos Bancarios, has called bank employees nationwide to participate in a strike on Thursday to protest this year's salary increase negotiations with the National Banking Federation Fenaban, Brazilian news agency Agencia Estado reported. Bank employees are asking Fenaban to agree to a 21.2% salary increase to reflect the inflation rate between September 2002 and August 2003, but Fenaban has only offered a 10% increase. The next round of negotiations between the two parties is slated for September 17.
