At 30%, El Llano-Puerto Cartí highway project advancing steadily
The works carried out by the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) on the highway that connects the Pan-American highway with the entrance of El Llano, Chepo district and ends at the entrance of Cartí port, in the Narganá corregimiento, Guna Yala region, records a current physical advance of 30%.
This highway, which will run for 38.70 kilometers, will improve connectivity between these two towns and promote economic and social development to benefit an estimated population of more than 31,500 inhabitants.
The activities that are currently being carried out are focused on scarification of the road, laying of the base layer, cleaning of paved drainage channels, irrigation of primer and placement of the asphalt mat.
To date, 90 direct jobs have been generated with the hiring of local labor in this important project that will have a construction period of 24 calendar months.
The Ministry of Public Works, through the Transeq-Copsa consortium, is carrying out this project with an investment of B/.24,583,324.10. The work includes the study, design, and construction for the solution of 18 critical points, as well as the pavement structure, storm drains, drainage channels, cross drains, and their concrete heads.
It also contemplates the design and placement of horizontal and vertical road signs for road safety, metal-type protection barriers and Jersey-type barriers, rural-type bus stop booths, portland cement concrete sidewalks, among others.
In addition, it includes the rehabilitation of a 90.00 m vehicular bridge over the Llano Cartí-Puerto Cartí road in the Guna Yala region with its accesses in the existing alignment.
