Mexico City on November 9, 2023. Thanks to the efforts of the engineering teams in the field, AT&T Mexico announces that it has restored 75% of its coverage in the State of Guerrero.

Until now, clients already have full coverage in Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Taxco, Xochipala, Chilpancingo and Iguala. The company will continue to recover the missing sites, as well as the road sections.

“It has been an exhaustive task to redo everything practically from scratch… without electricity, without fiber, without poles,” commented Nicole Rodriguez van den Branden , VP and Chief Technology Officer of AT&T Mexico. “Thank you to the engineers who have been non-stop for days, seeking to restore this critical service for hundreds of thousands of people who are experiencing their worst moment.”

Engineering teams in the field continue to face challenges in accessing electrical energy in radio bases and power plants. Likewise, there remains a constant risk of cuts in the fiber optic cables, because the poles on which the fiber is laid were severely damaged by the hurricane and must be rebuilt.

AT&T Mexico will continue to work in close collaboration with the authorities and with other fixed and mobile operators until the full recovery of telecommunications networks in Guerrero is achieved.
