AT&T Mexico's earnings creep up

AT&T's Mexico subsidiary reported a Q3 operating profit of US$10mn compared with an operating loss of US$29mn in the same quarter last year.

The company posted earnings of US$3mn in Q1, breaking a streak of several consecutive quarters of losses, and US$6mn in Q2.

Despite being impacted by unfavorable exchange rates, revenue grew 3% year-on-year in the third quarter, due to higher device sales (17.8%) and user growth.

Revenue reached US$1.02bn and has stayed above US$1bn for four consecutive quarters.

Ebitda was US$168mn, up 8.4% from the same quarter 2023.

AT&T closed Q3 with 22.9mn subscribers, up from 22.6mn three months earlier. The company added 272,000 wireless customers in the quarter, reaching 5.6mn postpaid users and 17.0mn prepaid customers.

The number of reseller lines fell from 333,000 in the second quarter to 282,000 in the third, the lowest figure in recent quarters.

Churn remained high at 5.74% and ARPU was US$7.54, down from US$8.28 in the previous quarter and US$8.17 in the same period last year.
