August demand increases 2.5%

Argentine power consumption in August 2004 grew 2.5% from the same month of 2003 to 6,967GWh, according to statistics from power sector development institute Fundelec. The August 2004 figure represents a 2.6% fall from the previous month. The province with the highest consumption growth in the year's comparison was Santiago del Estero with 15%. In the greater Buenos Aires area, including the concession areas of distributors Edenor, Edesur and Edelap, consumption grew an average of 0.48%. By contrast the average consumption in the rest of the country grew by 4.32%, Fundelec said.
