Bahia presents PPP projects

Priority projects in Brazil's Bahia state public-private partnership (PPP) program include a new underwater outlet pipe for state capital Salvador, a railroad, a highway corridor and logistics centers. The entire outlet pipe project, designed to transport treated wastewater to sea, has an estimated price tag of 260mn reais (US$95.4mn), state deputy-governor and infrastructure secretary Eraldo Tinoco said. He added that there is the possibility of partnerships to carry out sewerage projects in six other municipalities that would require more than 160mn reais. In December, Bahia governor Paulo Souto signed a law creating a PPP program, which includes the creation of a fund dubbed Fundo Garantidor das Parcerias Público-Privadas do Estado da Bahia (Fage-Bahia) aimed at sharing risk between the public and private sector.
