PRESS RELEASE from Bci
July 2024

In an effort to promote energy efficiency and contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions, Bci launched an important sustainable financing initiative aimed at companies in various sectors. This program not only entails environmental and social benefits by promoting the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, but will also improve the economic performance of companies associated with reducing operational costs.

According to the International Energy Agency, implementing energy-efficient technologies could save up to $130 billion annually by 2040 in developing and emerging economies. In this line, Bci positions itself as an ally for the transformation and processes of companies to more sustainable models. The financial aid from the entity is focused on efficient heating and air conditioning systems, low-consumption motors, LED lighting, electromobility, energy storage and the construction or renovation of buildings with energy savings of more than 20%.

Juan Ignacio Acevedo, Business Strategy Manager of Wholesale & Investment Banking, mentioned that “at Bci, we are working to move towards a better future for everyone and we are convinced that we can take care of our planet, with commitments and concrete actions. Furthermore, by providing financing and expert advice, we support companies to realize that it is our duty to mitigate the effects of climate change and contribute to the sustainable growth of the communities in which we are present.”

Bci's sustainable financing program is already underway and available for companies throughout Chile that choose to adopt energy efficiency processes. To date, Bci, through its Wholesale & Investment Banking division, has allocated more than $1,000,000 MM to sustainable financing.

To access these credits, companies must contact their banker or consult through the website.

Bci has aligned itself with the country's Net Zero commitment, adopting concrete actions to reduce its own environmental footprint and support its clients in their transition towards sustainable models, contributing to sustainable development, caring for the environment and contributing to a more inclusive and equitable.
