Belize generation call draws 56 groups

The Belize Public Utilities Commission's (PUC) request for proposals to supply electricity through 2028 has attracted 56 companies.

The process seeks 60MW firm capacity and 15MW solar and/or wind generation to be added over 10 years.

Of the 56 groups, 45 groups submitted an intent to bid, according to a document from the watchdog.

The bidding deadline is May 15 and offers will be opened the next day. Evaluation will run through August 18 with contract negotiations/awards due to close November 17.

Winners will carry out projects on a build, own and operate or build, own, operate and transfer basis.
