Bids fall short in call for US$1.3bn Bolivia petchem project

Bolivia’s state hydrocarbons company YPFB declared void the tender to carry out engineering for the proposed US$1.29bn second ammonia and urea plant.

Proposals submitted by Kempetro Engenharia and JSC "Krastsvetmet" for the 180-day pre-FEED (front end engineering and design) contract did not fulfill technical requirements, procurement information shows.

YPFB also canceled bidding to help optimize natural gas and crude production because offers submitted for the seven-month contract did not meet the requirements.

Information about when the calls would be relaunched was not disclosed.

Other tenders the state operator has underway are for an enhanced oil recovery program and to supervise construction of a US$40mn biodiesel plant.
