Biodiesel output to rise in Brazil next year

Brazil's biofuels association Ubrabio expects biodiesel production to rise 25% in 2018, from this year's estimated 4.3bn liters to 5.4bn liters.

This will be enabled by the increase of the mandatory biodiesel component in diesel from 8% to 10%, which is anticipated for March next year, according to a recent resolution published by the federal government.

Yet, even with such growth Brazil would still be producing less than the total authorized biodiesel output capacity of 7.9bn liters/y, Ubrabio remarked in a statement on Friday.
