The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) approved financing totaling R$1.76 billion to support the investment plans of the nine electricity distribution concessionaires controlled by Grupo Energisa. The operations benefit the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Tocantins, Paraíba, Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Paraná, Sergipe, Acre, Rio de Janeiro and Rondônia and enable the maintenance and increase of operational quality for 20 million people served in 863 municipalities.

A well-established practice for meeting the quality standards defined by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL), periodic investment plans enable the maintenance of operations and the improvement of the quality of electricity supply, in addition to controlling commercial losses, network expansion and expansion of the customer base.

“We focus on combining quality with high efficiency in our operations, with meticulous planning, aiming for the most effective solutions for each region, in order to achieve a high level of satisfaction in the perception of customers. As we operate in 24% of national territory, we understand that each area of activity has particularities and requires us to make specific investments to provide the best response to our clients' needs. Following our investment plan, this resource will be applied to expanding the distribution network to further democratize access to clean energy and the robustness of our infrastructure”, said the vice president of Networks at Grupo Energisa, Gioreli de Sousa.

The interventions that will be carried out by the concessionaires include service to new homes, the expansion of substations and energy distribution lines, and the exchange of equipment. Power grids must also be expanded or replaced.

“The expansion and improvement of energy distribution services is a priority for BNDES, as it involves projects in which there are strong benefits both in terms of expanding the population served and in relation to the quality and reliability of the energy delivered in these regions," said the director of Infrastructure, Energy Transition and Climate Change at BNDES, Luciana Costa.

Within the scope of the R$1.76 billion operation, the largest support is intended for Energisa Mato Grosso, which will receive R$395 million. The remaining financing is for distributors serving Mato Grosso do Sul (R$288 million); Tocantins (R$231 million); Paraíba (R$215 million); Paraná, Minas Gerais and São Paulo (R$171 million); Sergipe (R$149 million); Acre (R$125 million); Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro (R$117 million); and Rondônia (R$75 million).
