Bolivia and Brazil sign an agreement to expand cooperation on biofuels, biotechnology and fertilizer marketing.

UCOM MHE 01-30-24.- The ministers of the governments of Bolivia and Brazil signed this Tuesday, in the city of Brasilia, a Memorandum of Understanding with the purpose of expanding cooperation in biofuels, biotechnology and fertilizer trade.

The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy (MHE), Franklin Molina Ortiz, and the Minister of Rural Development and Lands (MDRYT), Remmy Gonzáles, signed the agreement on behalf of the Bolivian Government. On behalf of the Government of Brazil, the Ministers of Industry and Commercial Development, Geral Alckmin; of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro; and from Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, were the signatories.

According to the agreement, both governments also commit to contributing to the development of regulatory, technological and methodological policies in determining prices for the fertilizer and biofuels industry in Brazil and Bolivia. In addition, technical visits, internships, trainings, symposiums, seminars and other activities related to fertilizers and biofuels, including information exchange, will be carried out.

The agreement reflects in the document the will of both parties to create new commercial milestones and increase regional competitiveness of raw materials and products between both countries. In a complementary manner, exchange between Brazilian and Bolivian businessmen will be promoted for the expansion and diversification of foreign trade. In addition, efforts will be made to debureaucratize agricultural, livestock and agro-industrial trade.

This Memorandum of Understanding not only lays the foundations to strengthen relations between both countries in the agricultural and livestock energy field, but also focuses on promoting cooperation and exchange of knowledge in other areas, such as fertilizers, biofuels and other inputs. for plant nutrition fundamental aspects of this agreement.

Last year, government representatives from both nations began holding meetings to discuss issues related to integration projects, in accordance with the implementation of the Bilateral Agenda between Bolivia and Brazil.
