UCOM MHE 07-09-2024.- A new momentous initiative is underway to provide a clean, continuous and reliable energy supply to the populations of the northern Bolivian Amazon, including the cities of Cobija, Guayaramerín and Riberalta. This project will benefit nearly 58 thousand homes that are currently isolated from the National Interconnected System (SIN).

The implementation of this measure will allow the displacement of nearly 50 million liters of diesel annually, generating significant savings for the State of approximately $69 million per year. In addition, this initiative will contribute to the decarbonization of the Bolivian Amazon, with an estimated reduction of approximately 133 thousand tons of CO2 per year.

Our National Electricity Company (ENDE), through its subsidiary ENDE Brasil, will carry out the required transactions in the Brazilian electrical system and will also be able to market Bolivian energy in the Brazilian market, allowing additional income for the State of around 9 million dollars. anus.

In an important advance in energy cooperation between Brazil and Bolivia, both countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve the operation of the Jirau Hydroelectric Power Plant in Cota 90. This agreement aims to optimize the use of shared water resources and obtain energy benefits for both nations.

The MoU signed by the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy of Bolivia, Franklin Molina Ortiz, and his counterpart of Mines and Energy of Brazil, Alexandre Silveira de Oliveira, establishes that the owner of the Jirau Hydroelectric Power Plant must obtain all the necessary authorizations and licenses in Brazil and Bolivia, in addition to complying with current socio-environmental requirements.
