
Bolivia and Petrobras set up working groups to address broad energy agenda

UCOM MHE 10-20-2023.- Authorities from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy, and representatives of public companies in the sector begin a new round of negotiations this Friday in Santa Cruz with a mission from Petrobras to address issues related to the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons, fertilizers, renewable energy, lithium and liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The meeting is part of the bilateral agenda established by both governments more than two months ago in Brazil and which will continue in Santa Cruz with the arrival of a Brazilian delegation, made up of managers from different areas of the company. The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energy, Franklin Molina, opened the meeting.
The Upstream technical table includes the hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation plan and other issues that relate to Petrobras' relationship with Bolivian Fiscal Oil Fields (YPFB).
In the work table related to fertilizers, the scope of the Ammonia and Urea Plant Petrochemical Complex 2, which is planned to be installed in Puerto Quijarro / Cuiabá, will be evaluated. Likewise, in the area of renewable energies, projects related to wind, solar and hydroelectric generation will be analyzed.
The meeting also plans to address the issue of lithium, through a working group that will analyze the production of cathode materials. In addition, the program establishes a specific table to address the issue of virtual Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).
The Bolivian part will be made up of representatives of the state-owned YPFB, the National Electricity Company (ENDE) and Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB), as well as authorities and technical personnel from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy.
