The Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energies, Franklin Molina, presented this Thursday the Supreme Decree of Distributed Generation that encourages Bolivians to be actors in the generation of electricity from environmentally friendly sources.
In a press conference that he offered at the Casa Grande del Pueblo, located in the city of La Paz, the head of this State portfolio reported that with these regulations Bolivia is taking an important step in the energy sector.
“Present to the Bolivian people a decree that opens a new chapter in the country's energy management. With the incorporation, remuneration of distributed generation, Bolivians will begin to be active players in the generation of electricity from sources that are friendly to the environment, ”said the head of Hydrocarbons and Energies.
Along these lines, he explained that, with this measure, those who want to use their own electricity generation system, such as a solar panel in their home, will be able to combine it with the local distribution network. In other words, they will be able to generate their own energy to meet their demand.
On the other hand, if your photovoltaic panel system generates more than the power required by your home, you can inject the surplus into the local distribution network and receive income from the energy generated.
"This is a measure that combines the Government's commitment to the economic reactivation of the country and the diversification of electricity generation sources, this time involving the population in the electricity industry chain and the use of alternative sources", Held.
He emphasized that the purpose of this supreme decree is to achieve economic and environmental impact, taking into account that Bolivia is in a phase of energy transition with renewable projects, such as solar and wind plants built and under execution.
“Thanks to the strong investments made in the electricity sector, now we go a little further, we propose to involve the main actor in the electricity industry, the electricity consumer, the families who, based on this decree, can be consumers and producers with the use of technologies that are available to everyone, ”he said.
He indicated that in Bolivia there are some experiences of distributed generation that can be seen, for example, in the Aasana building in Viru Viru (Santa Cruz), in the Universidad Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA) in La Paz or in the building of the ENDE company. Transmission in Cochabamba.
"Although they are small-scale ventures, as similar initiatives emerge, the contribution over time will be increasingly important from this type of project," stressed the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energies.
He added that in the first year of application of this measure, the economic reactivation of 400 small and medium-sized companies dedicated to the installation of photovoltaic systems is expected, in addition to generating around 1,300 direct and indirect jobs until reaching more than 3,000.
