Bolivia reissues call for 45MW wind project

Bolivia’s state power company Ende launched a second tender for the civil works of the 45MW Warnes II wind project in Santa Cruz department.

BNamericas previously reported that the original process fell through after none of the participants fulfilled bidding requirements.

The 260-day contract covers the plant’s internal road, turbine foundations and water drainage, among other infrastructure.

The reference price is 118 million bolivianos (US$17mn) and offers are due by July 5, according to procurement information available here and at this link.

A tender for Warnes II's transmission component is already underway, as well as procurement to supervise construction and that of the 9MW La Ventolera wind farm.

Meanwhile, five groups attended an information meeting for Ende’s call to prepare the pre-investment technical design study for a 160MW wind farm in Santa Cruz.

The potential bidders are ABS Consulting Group, Barlovento, IPE Bolivia, ISI Mustang Bolivia and Ventus Ingenieria. Offers are due July 9.

Bolivia’s installed wind capacity comes from Ende plants El Dorado (54MW), San Julían (39.6MW), Qollpana (27MW) and Warnes (14.4MW),

HYDRO PROJECT PIPELINE

Ende also launched bidding for an US$18.9mn contract to supply metallic structures for the transmission line which will connect the 290MW Ivirizu hydro to the national grid. Details are available here and at this link.

And the hydrocarbons and energies ministry reported that construction of the 204MW Miguillas hydro stands at 46%, with initial startup scheduled for next year and full operations in 2026.

The update followed a visit by hydrocarbons and energy minister Franklin Molina to the project site in La Paz department.
