Bolivia seeks consultancy to optimize hydrocarbons output

Bolivia’s state hydrocarbons company YPFB has launched bidding to evaluate alternatives for the optimization of well production.
“The need to optimize production has arisen, since in Bolivia a large percentage of oil and gas production comes from mature fields, and it is increasingly important to evaluate alternatives that allow maximizing production,” YPFB said in a statement.
The consultancy work will target 90 wells and offers are due May 16. Procurement information is available in the Documents box in the upper right-hand corner.
The winner will have up to 45 days to submit a work plan, up to 170 days to file a technical report covering data validation, screening, and implementation method for hydraulic and acid stimulation, and up to 220 days to provide the design for other technologies and a well ranking.
In an optimistic scenario, the hydrocarbons and energies ministry forecasts that gas and liquids production this year will average 37.43Mm3/d (million cubic meters per day) and 33,710b/d, compared with 41.2Mm3/d and 39,000b/d in 2022.
For Wood Mackenzie, “the decline in Bolivia’s gas production could have a drastic impact on its exports. Without additional discoveries, the decline will not be reversed. It is possible that, by the end of the decade, Bolivia will only be producing enough gas to meet domestic demand.”
