The Minister of Public Works, Edgar Montaño, reported this Tuesday that an international tender was made possible, with suspensive clauses, to improve and expand the La Paz – Oruro highway, Senkata – Apacheta section , to eight lanes, which has an investment of Bs. 337,607,864.

“Despite the fact that they are putting obstacles in front of us in the Assembly , we have decided to put out to tender this work with suspensive clauses at my own risk,” he stated at a press conference.

In this sense, Montaño asked the legislators to approve the bill that has been stuck since September 2023. The scope of the rule includes the expansion of the current double road to 8 lanes, the implementation of viaducts, walkways, drainage works and signaling and complementary works such as vaulting for the city's drainage system and road lighting.

“Although the Legislative Assembly had it in its hands, it has not yet approved the bill for the construction of the eight lanes for El Alto. Leave aside the anxieties of applying, do it for El Alto, approve the law,” he insisted.

However, it invited international specialized companies with experience in the area to present their proposals for the construction of these works until 10:00 on March 24, 2024.

“I invite all specialized companies so that they can download the technical specifications from SICOES and present their proposal,” he said.

“We are saving time of more than five months, because the normal thing should be that they first approve in the Assembly and then bid, but the law authorizes me to bid with suspensive clauses. If it is not achieved, I have to cancel the tender,” he explained.

Note: The tender documents can be viewed in the SICOES contracting system using the CUCE code 24-0291-00-1409940-1-1.
