Bolsamarcas eyes regional expansion for trademarks portal

Bnamericas
Chilean trademark web site Bolsamarcas plans to expand its operations to the rest of Latin America in the medium-term, local business magazine Revista de Negocios reported. Bolsamarcas has received 14,500 visits since it started operating in 1999 and currently offers 100 different types of trademarks, charging a 10% commission on the sale price. The company's immediate goal is to increase the number of trademark types sold over the site as well as improve marketing to potential buyers. The licenses for about 20,000 trademarks expire every year in Chile, of which only 50% are renewed. The rest can be registered and traded by third parties. "This company was born as a response to the needs of the market to have a place to sell trademarks on a large scale. We have been operating since 1999 with the backing of the Estudio Dellafiori legal study who are specialists in the area of business property," company co-founder Gianni Dellafiori said.
