Bosch will increase production in Mexico of electronic control units for driving comfort, as well as components for the electrification of the powertrain through the expansion of the Celaya plant (CeaP).

The announcement means an investment of 4.5 billion pesos and the creation of 1,500 new jobs over the next 7 years. Thus, Bosch México intensifies its activities in the country by accumulating recent investments of almost 20 billion pesos in the automotive, household appliances and capital goods fields for the next 5 years.

René Schlegel, president of Bosch México points out: “Mexico is a privileged country in terms of its geographical and commercial position, at the same time that it has human capital with high prestige worldwide. The combination of these elements allows us to better serve our market, which makes the country very attractive for Bosch”.

Bosch plans to establish the charging unit manufacturing platform for the North American market at its Celaya plant. The site will double the built area for manufacturing spaces with this expansion of more than 20,000 square meters, which will make it a benchmark for the North American region in terms of scale and process automation. In addition, Bosch is tackling climate change with sustainable building solutions at CeaP to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

"With the expansion we respond to the strong demand for electronic components in the North American market. The decision to increase our capacities only two years after the start of operations in Celaya demonstrates the strategic importance of the site for the electrification of the powertrain", mentions Sven Ost , member of the Bosch Automotive Electronics Division Council.

With this initiative, Bosch Mexico takes another step forward in the transformation towards electromobility.

Bosch Celaya started operations in 2020 as the state of the art of a smart factory. Currently 425 employees work at the site, dedicated to the manufacture of automotive technology such as control panels, driving assistance and electronic components.
