Brazil, Canada stock exchanges join forces to support junior miners
Stock exchange operators in Brazil and Canada are joining forces to facilitate financing access for Brazilian junior mining firms.
The TMX Group exchanges – Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) – and B3, the Brazilian stock exchange, signed an MOU to create more opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs in Brazil’s capital market.
Under the accord, the exchanges will support companies for the dual listing of shares, enabling them to access both domestic and international investors.
“This collaboration will help B3 to promote a dialogue between participants, regulators, public agents and investors to attract liquidity to Brazilian mining companies,” said B3 CEO Gilson Finkelsztain in a statement. “The initiative also reinforces B3's commitment to the sector, by offering investment alternatives to institutional investors and individuals interested in participating and engaging in sustainable projects."
Canada and Australia have well-developed equities markets for junior companies and Brazilian mining stakeholders have for years asked B3 to develop similar financing options for local early-stage firms.
