UCOM MHE 09.04.23.- The Government of Brazil formalized its interest in the purchase of Bolivian fertilizers and proposes an agenda of understanding to invest in new urea, potassium chloride and NPK production plants, the Minister of Hydrocarbons and Energies, Franklin Molina Ortiz.
"The government of President Inácio Lula da Silva —who assumed his third term in January of this year— sees Bolivia as the best ally to generate investment in new industrial plants and even a petrochemical plant," said the authority at the conclusion of the meeting held in his office in La Paz.
As had already been agreed in a previous meeting, in the city of Belem, Brazil, in which President Luis Arce Catacora also participated, Molina received the delegation made up of government authorities from the neighboring country to begin the construction of a joint agenda.
On the occasion, the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Brazil, Irajá Lacerda, "expressed his country's interest in establishing commercial ties for investment in industrial fertilizer plants and immediately the purchase of the production of potassium chloride, urea and NPK Molina asserted.
Likewise, the authority explained that Brazil is the country with the highest demand for fertilizers on the continent, due to the large amount of productive land it owns and plans to expand its agriculture by more than 40 million hectares. This scenario explains the growing demand for fertilizers and their interest in participating in investments in new industrial plants.
In addition, Molina pointed out that the construction of an understanding agenda also provides for the possibility of an exchange of experiences between both nations for the development of the biofuels industry and the production of ethanol and methanol.
