Brazil issues call for solar-diesel hybrid projects

Bnamericas

Brazil's energy planning agency EPE has called for expressions of interest in hybrid power generation projects in the Amazon region.

EPE said the solar-diesel plants would meet electricity demand in 54 off-grid areas served by Eletrobras Distribuição Amazonas.

In June a consortium led by British power generator Aggreko secured contracts worth 8.8bn reais (US$2.5bn) to build and operate isolated systems in Amazonas state.

The diesel-fired plants will total 148MW of installed capacity.

More information about the call for proposals, in Portuguese, can be seen here.
