Brazil publishes tender notice for construction of bridge connecting to Uruguay

The Brazilian government published the tender notice for the construction of the second international bridge over the Jaguarão River.

The 419m bridge will connect Brazil through Jaguarão, in Rio Grande do Sul state, with Rio Branco in Uruguay.

The bridge project is a “historic commitment” by the administration of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that will increase the flow of goods and people and have a positive impact on bilateral integration, said Brazilian transport minister Renan Filho (pictured) in a statement.

The opening of bids is scheduled for October 16 and the winner will be the company that offers the lowest price for the execution of the works.

The contract will have a duration of 1,260 days and includes adaptations of some road sections.
