Brazil restarts BR-364 highway works

Brazil’s transports ministry signed two service orders allowing transport infrastructure department DNIT to resume the 176mn-real (US$35.2mn) rehabilitation of highway BR-364 in Mato Grosso state. 

Works were contracted in 2017 but never advanced due to lack of resources.

Of the total, 61mn reais will be used to restore a 26.4km stretch between Alto Graças and the border with Goiás state, while 115mn reais will be for a 271km stretch between Comodoro and Sapezal.

“A highway without maintenance due to lack of resources means delay for people and for the economy of the state, which is an important grain producer,” transport minister Renan Filho said during the signing of the service order.

The government aims to increase public infrastructure investments and restart halted works, with sector players being expectant.
