Brazil starts public consultation to make oil & gas environmental licensing more transparent

The Brazilian government kicked off a public consultation as part of efforts to increase transparency in the environmental licensing process for oil and gas projects.
“We are committed to promoting continuous dialogue with everyone involved, always seeking a balance between economic development and environmental protection," said Alexandre Silveira, the mines and energy minister, in a statement.
The issue of environmental licensing is a sensitive one for President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's administration as it wants to move forward with several oil and gas projects while showing ESG-focused investors that it has a strong environmental commitment.
The consultation will be open until July 29. More information about the process can be seen via this link.
