Brazilian antitrust regulator clears HPE-HCLTech telecoms deal
Brazilian antitrust regulator Cade approved without restrictions the acquisition of certain assets of Hewlett-Packard Enterprise (HPE) by Indian IT services multinational HCLTech for US$225 million.
The global all-cash transaction was announced in May by HCLTech and involves HPE’s Communications Technology Group unit. The subsidiary is responsible for providing services to the telecoms industry.
As part of the agreement, approximately 1,500 employees and 700 contractors with experience in engineering services for telcos in different countries, including in Latin America, will be transferred to HCLTech.
HCLTech reports over 120 delivery centers providing support for global companies and presence in 60 countries.
In Latin America, it has two centers in Brazil, two in Mexico and one each in Costa Rica and Guatemala.
