Brazilian lithium producer CBL mulls US$70mn investment to double output
Brazilian lithium producer Companhia Brasileira de Lítio (CBL) is evaluating a plan to invest about US$70mn to increase production.
The project under study envisages doubling production of lithium concentrate from the current 45,000t/y.
According to CBL's CEO, Vinícius Alvarenga, who was interviewed by newspaper Diário do Comércio, the company is in the initial phase of talks on the expansion.
“The value of the investment, as it is still under study, may be higher or lower than [the US$70mn] estimated,” Alvarenga said in the interview.
CBL is owned by Brazilian entrepreneurs and has operated in the Jequitinhonha valley region of Minas Gerais state since 1991.
