Brazil’s Corsan to hike rates above inflation
Corsan, the water utility of southern Brazil's Rio Grande do Sul state, was authorized by state water regulator Agergs to hike its rates above inflation.
The company’s annual rates rise will be 7.69% and take effect July 1. Brazil’s annual inflation, as measured by the IPCA index, ended mid-May at 4.93%.
The increase will be important for Corsan to finance its investment program as the state government faces spending restrictions.
