Brazil's Espírito Santo attracts 17 wastewater project planners

Cesan, the water utility in Brazil's Espírito Santo state, has received expressions of interest from 17 companies interested in preparing studies to build a sewerage system in state capital Vitória, Cesan regional operations manager Luiz Cláudio Rodrigues told BNamericas.

The winning bidder will have 120 days to prepare their studies and, after evaluation and final selection, a tender for the civil works will be launched," Rodrigues said, adding that a launch date is not known at this time.

The consultancy contract, which involves no more than 2mn reais (US$633,000) in remuneration, entails preparing technical, economical, financial and institutional feasibility studies to build new infrastructure that will improve the current sewage treatment facility at Camburi beach.

The consulting firm will need to prepare plans for a concession of more than 20 years that will feature the reuse of wastewater for industrial purposes through a system with capacity to treat 500 liters of water per second.

At 6km long, Camburi beach is considered the largest beach in Vitória. Its main neighborhood, Jardim Camburi, has at least 40,000 residents.

THE COMPANIES

Among the groups interested in preparing studies are Aegea Saneamento e Participações, Andrade Gutierrez Engenharia, Antonio Carlos Ferreira da Silva, Centroprojekt do Brasil, Conepp Consultoria, Degremont Tratamento de Água, Enfil-Controle Ambiental, Ernst & Young Assessoria Empresarial, Fineggi Capital Serviços Financeiros and GS Inima Brasil, according to the executive.

The remaining seven are Normatel Engenharia, Odebrecht Ambiental-Participações em Negócios Industriais, PCE Projetos e Consultoria de Engenharia, Sanevix Engenharia, Sistemas Urbanos Engenharia, VA Tech Wabag and Vitória Ambiental Engenharia e Tecnologia.
