Brazil's Oi outperforms pay-TV rivals

February was another month of growth for Brazilian telco Oi, which gained pay-TV subscribers while most of its major competitors lost.

The company, which is under bankruptcy protection, added 16,384 subscriptions in the month, compared to 13,828 in January. Overall, the sector recorded a loss of 95,161 clients, telecom regulator Anatel reported.

Since February 2016, Oi has grown 13.43% and the market has dropped 2.02%.

Overall, Brazil ended February with over 18.6mn pay-TV subscribers, down from 18.9mn in February 2016 and 18.7mn in January.

All the technologies lost users, including fiber optics.
