Brazil's Paraná set to launch US$1bn tenders for road repairs, repaving

The government of Paraná state in southern Brazil is planning to launch a series of tenders involving total investments of 5.5 billion reais (US$964 million) to repair and repave roads across the state.

The works will be divided into 40 lots, covering all regions of the state and due to be carried out over three years.

A total of 10,000 kilometers of roads will be improved, the state government said in a release.

State road department DER/PR will hold a public hearing on August 15 as part of the process to prepare the tender documents.

"Details of the Paraná state highway maintenance and conservation program (ProMAC) will be presented, with citizens being able to ask questions, send suggestions and contribute both during the event and in the following days, using the email dopcgm@der.pr.gov.br," the state government said.

The documents to be used as background information for the public hearing are available here, in Portuguese.
