Brazil's Petrobras launches offshore rig tenders

Brazil’s federal oil company Petrobras has launched two tenders to hire offshore well intervention rigs. 

One process calls for the chartering of one or two riser-based units for water depths of up to 2,400m. 

The pre-qualified companies to participate in the tender are TechnipFMC, Helix, Akofs Offshore, Saipem, Ocyan Drilling, Ventura Petroleo, Odfjell, COSL Drilling, Constellation, Stena Drilling, Seadrill, Transocean, Ensco, Etesco, NE Drilling, Brasdril and Dolphin Drilling.

The tender documents are available on Petrobras’ procurement website Petronect, under ID number 7004228268, and the bid submission deadline is February 2, 2024. 

The other process is designed to contract one riserless rig for water depths of up to 1,500m. 

In this case, only TechnipFMC, Helix and Akofs Offshore are eligible to participate. 

Published under ID number 7004228267, the tender's bidding deadline is also February 2.

CONTRACTS 

At the end of November, Constellation announced that Atlantic Star and Amaralina Star will extend their contracts with Petrobras. 

The Atlantic Star will remain in operation until January 2025. 

In the case of Amaralina Star, Petrobras exercised its option to extend the contract for an additional 12 months, postponing it to October 2025.

EQUATORIAL MARGIN

Ocyan's ODN II drillship, which will be drilling the Pitu Oeste well for Petrobras, left Rio de Janeiro on December 5 for the location in the Potiguar basin, in Rio Grande do Norte state.  

The drilling, scheduled to begin this month on the BM-POT-17 concession, will mark the oil company's return to the Equatorial Margin, which stretches from Rio Grande do Norte to Amapá along the Brazilian coast. 

Pitu Oeste will be the third well in the BM-POT-17 concession and is expected to last between three and five months.
