Brazil's Sanepar to expand water supply in Jandaia do Sul
Brazil's Paraná state water utility Sanepar started work to expand water supply for the city of Jandaia do Sul.
The company will reinforce water supply in the northern zone of Jandaia do Sul, installing 1.4 km in pipeline that will connect the central reservoir to the neighborhoods Vila Rica, Jardim Vista Alegre, Santa Helena, and surrounding areas.
Residents complain that the domestic water pressure is reduced at peak times of the hottest days. The work will address this issue and is expected to be completed within two months.
Agreement with JICA
Meanwhile, the utility formed a partnership with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to carry out a technical feasibility study on drying the sewage sludge generated at the stations of treatment operated by the company.
"We already have a good track record of partnering with JICA, but we can advance more," said Mounir Chaowiche, Sanepar's president.
The technical studies will be developed with the participation of the company Tohoku Clean Development Corporation, linked to JICA.
