After the removal of the rocks, we will opening a safe path to reach 16 and, subsequently, 17 meters of draft, a depth that will bring definitive tranquility to receive, at any time of the day or night, the largest ships in the world," said Anderson Pomini, president of Santos Port Authority (SPA).

The contractor will have 18 months to remove an estimated 10,000m3 of rock. According to a study received by SPA, there are 31 points where there are rocks that prevent the deepening of the channel.
