Brazil's Tocantins state takes action to develop mining industry
The Brazilian state of Tocantins is looking to form a partnership with the country's geological service department (SGB) to develop its mining industry.
State government representatives recently held a meeting with the director of geology and mineral resources at SGB, Francisco Valdir Silveira, to discuss partnership details.
These are actions that could help the state to become a major player in the Brazilian mining sector, mainly through minerals for the energy transition, said Silveira in a statement.
According to figures from Brazilian mining association Ibram, of the projected US$64.5bn in sector investments during 2024-28, only US$265mn will go to projects in Tocantins.
