Brief: Brazil's Sanepar obtains Caixa loan

Sanepar, the water utility of Brazil's Paraná state, obtained a loan worth 1.5bn reais (US$450mn) from state-run bank Caixa Economica Federal.

The amount will be invested in the expansion of water and sewage services and improvements in the company's administrative sector. All up, the funds will flow to projects across 56 cities.

"The new works envisage the implementation of a water distribution network, sewage collection network and various equipment necessary for the proper functioning of Sanepar's sanitation systems," said Mounir Chaowiche, Sanepar's president.
