The Dominican Republic's energy and mines ministry has begun a 30-day public consultation for a draft hydrocarbons E&P contract which contains the fiscal framework already discussed with the finance ministry and tax service.

Melbana Energy reported that Cuba's science, technology and environment ministry, and environmental regulator approved the environmental license for exploration well Alameda-1, the first of two planned at onshore block 9.

"The environmental license, coupled with the previously reported granting of the microlocalisation permit (see ASX release dated 31 January 2018), are key inputs into the subsequent 'permit to work' and the final 'approval to drill' to be granted by the relevant Cuban regulatory authorities for the drilling of Alameda-1," the company said in an update.
