Brief: Central America watch
Honduras' state power company Enee said that construction of the 104MW Patuca III hydroelectric plant (in photo) is approximately 80% complete and that operations startup is expected in the second half of 2018.
The final concrete layer of the shaft area for the 57m-high dam and machine house is being laid and component installation is underway on the two turbines, along with completion of the 11 monoliths and six gate piers.

Panama's national assembly reported that the last consultation session was held for a bill to establish the regulatory framework for the integrated management of water resources.
After new modifications are made to the proposed legislation, an environment subcommittee technical group will present the document to the environment committee for review. If approved, the bill will be sent to the assembly floor for a first debate.
