Brief: US urges Caribbean to step up money laundering fight

The US ambassador to Guyana, Perry Holloway, has urged Caribbean countries to step up their efforts in the fight against money laundering in the region.

At a Caribbean Financial Action Task Force (CFATF) workshop, Holloway said governments in the Caribbean should act without delay to make sure financial institutions are protected from criminal elements, according to local reports.

With 25 members, CFATF has agreed to implement common measures to combat money laundering and terrorism financing.
