Businessmen inspect land where green hydrogen plant will be built

Green hydrogen plant will soon become a reality. Phelan Green Energy businessmen, led by Paschal Phelan, accompanied by the governor of the Regional Government of Arequipa, Rohel Sánchez Sánchez, inspected the land where the first green hydrogen plant in the country will be installed, located in the district of La Joya.
A couple of weeks ago, technicians had already arrived to verify the quality of the land they will occupy, which is part of an area owned by the Army. They will occupy some 4,000 hectares.
“We are very satisfied with what we have found here. It is a flat terrain, with good quality soil that will support the columns where the large solar panels will be placed, in addition to this, the high solar radiation is very beneficial and we have a good wind that will help cool the panels and, most importantly, we have the support of the governor so that the project can be completed as soon as possible,” said the businessman.
He reported that the necessary procedures will be started, in addition to complying with all regulations, preparing the Environmental Impact Study and as soon as the corresponding permits are obtained, the installation will begin.
He explained that since the soil is of good quality, the panels will be elevated, so that some products can be grown under them, such as strawberries, blueberries and others. He also explained that the installation of the plant at 100% will be in 5 years and in phases; but the advantages will begin to be seen from the first year with the production of electrical energy through the photovoltaic panels. The production of green hydrogen and other derivatives will be done in the second and third phases.
“Arequipa has the opportunity to be a pioneer in initiating a change in the energy matrix with the installation of this plant, one of the largest in the world and which will require a significant investment of 2.5 billion dollars, which will make the cost of energy cheaper, so we call on industries to return their capital to the region,” added Governor Sánchez.
The plant will not only produce energy, but also fertilizers that will be very useful for Peruvian agriculture and also for export, using renewable energy.
