Cabei opens tender for Costa Rica sewage, flood control projects

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (Cabei) has opened a tender process for two sanitation-related projects in the Costa Rican city of Limón.

One project is focused on expanding sewage services while the other is for the construction of a flood control system, according to tender documents.

The country’s water authority (AyA) and the national service of underground water, irrigation and drainage (Senara) will be in charge of the sewage and flood control projects, respectively.

Cabei will receive proposals on March 22 and more information about the tender process can be seen here.

Financing for the works will come from a US$55.1mn loan from Cabei that was approved in early 2019. AyA and Senara will each provide US$1.6mn to co-finance certain parts of the projects.

The 20-year loan has a grace period of five years.
